Baby transport on bicycles before ninth (9th) month

Before 3 months, you should not ride a bike with the baby. Therefore prefer walking and public transport.
Then there are different types of bags to carry the baby bike. The baby seat is not recommended until 6-9 months months or a year, before the baby's head stand firmly on its own. Some bags fit in the baby's size.

Example: Bag that fits the size of the baby

In general, when the baby is small and does not weigh too heavy, it is best to wear it in a prone position. You need a bike where the rider position is right.
When the baby grows, it is usually worn on the back. But we must think quickly to put in a baby seat before he will be too heavy.
Scarves can also carry the baby itself, but be aware the baby hang properly. Whatever the material used, it is best to drive carefully, choose quiet streets and have tested the material in advance on foot.

There is also a baby carrier "maxi-cozy" that can be tied to his luggage rack or in a bicycle transportation ("bakfiets"). The "maxi-cozy" is a kind of tub secured to transport babies in cars. A special holder can fix it on the rear rack.

This system includes an efficient and comfortable small tarp that can run in any weather. The system is usable up to 15 months.

Steco has also developed an attachment for stroller. This is useful once you arrive at destination on foot to carry baby. Folded stroller attaches to the rack (see photo below).

With the birth of second child, this is complicated in general. Many parents cyclists are obliged to transport the car to two babies in the nursery. There are many way to transport a child (a baby seat) and a baby (in a bag) on a bike, but it is not clear.

In the Netherlands, there are bikes load to transport children in a tray at the front. The bakfiets Cargo can carry two children and a baby in a maxi-cozy. This two wheels costs about 1,445 USD. The Cargo bakfiets long (30 cm and more) can take four children at once. There are ways to test them by renting them at a particular-bikes in Leuven. The bakfiets Cargo is not wider than a bike with two bags and two large legs to stabilize the bike stopped. A model three-wheeled (tricycles) cost him in 1700 USD.

The trailer can also carry two children, but in town it is then difficult to squeeze between the cars to drive his children to the nursery or school. The trailer is obviously ideal for long trips for hiking and traveling.
The trailers are big advantages:
1 - The ability to take two children (most of the trailers available), or by installing a baby seat or a cozy kind max hull plus a few special effects in the back
2 - make a walk or ride more comfortable for children: toys, food, protective rain cover for the cold etc. ..

Moreover all the good models are rainproof and mosquito nets against insects and projections. A good trailer should be light (<12kg) and easily removable. Most of the coupling are left lateral, either with a clip to place on the bicycle frame (sometimes comes with a foot) or with an attachment placed directly on the axis of the rear wheel of the bicycle. With two attachments, one can leave the coach at the school. The cart is generally used for the walk this weekend, but more and more cyclists use them in Brussels to carry babies in the nursery. An additional foot to attach to the rear frame is also a good help to stabilize the bike and get the children out of the cart.
